Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Daniel Huff:
It's time to fight back against death threats by Islamic extremists.
A federal law is needed to cover threats
against free-speech rights. Across media and geographies, Islamic
extremists are increasingly using intimidation to stifle free expression.
(LAT, 27 Sept. 2010). A federal law would do two things. First,
it would deter violent tactics, by focusing national attention on the
problem and invoking the formidable enforcement apparatus of the federal
government. Second, its civil damages provision would empower victims of
intimidation to act as private attorneys general to defend their rights.

He had obtained citizenship through
marriage to a woman, Huma Mian,
who was born in Colorado — the authorities say she and their two young
children are still in Pakistan, where they believe he was trained in
making bombs last year in Waziristan, a tribal area that is a haven for
militants. ...Pakistani officials said Mr. Shahzad was
either a son or a grandson of Baharul Haq, who retired
as a vice air marshal in 1992 and then joined the Civil Aviation
Authority. A Pakistani official said Mr. Shahzad might have had
affiliations with Ilyas Kashmiri, a militant linked to
Al Qaeda
who was formerly associated with
Lashkar-e-Taiba,
an anti-India militant group once nurtured by the Pakistani state. Mr.
Shahzad’s generation grew up in a Pakistan where alcohol had been banned
and Islam had been forced into schools and communities as a doctrine and
a national glue.... Ms. Mian had just graduated from

University of Colorado
at Boulder with a business degree.
Islamische Zensur in den USA:
Rückschlag für den
Niederländer Geert Wilders: Die Website, auf der er
seinen islamkritischen Film zeigen wollte, ist offline. Der
US-Provider Network Solutions begründete die
Sperrung mit einem Verstoß gegen seine Leitlinien. (Spiegel,
23.3.08).
For the past several
weeks, anyone typing into their Web browser the URL
fitnathemovie.com would have reached only a black screen, an
image of the Koran, and the words, "Geert
Wilders presents Fitna. Coming Soon." No other pages
were accessible. Media
reports on the film -- whose title is an Arabic word used in the
Koran, translated as "strife" or "ordeal" -- prompted street
demonstrations in several Islamic countries, diplomatic protests,
and warnings from the Dutch and other European governments about an
expected, possibly violent, backlash.(By
Patrick Goodenough. CNSNews.com International Editor. March 24,
2008).
(Nils Minkmar, FAZ,
28.3.08).
FITNA - deutscher Text. Hier der Schluss:

Der Niederländer Geert Wilders will mit
seinem 16-Minuten-Streifen vor einer "Islamisierung der
Gesellschaft" warnen. Man hätte das als rechtspopulistischen
Alarmismus abtun können, doch ausgerechnet Wilders' nicht
islamische Kritiker bestätigen seine Kassandrarufe. Da
Seiten, also den Islamismus, zeigt. Aber er verzichtet auf jedes
fiktionale Element und reiht Schlagzeilen, Bilder aus
Nachrichtensendungen und Ausschnitte aus Hasspredigten
aneinander.
(Welt, 29.3.08).

GEERT WILDERS
(31.3.08). 'Moderate Islam Is a Contradiction'. Und hier auf

Kathleen Parker:
Freedom of sketch. (WP, 04/28/10).
Molly Norris
drew the Prophet Muhammad --
as a spool of thread, a box of pasta, a cup of coffee, a domino, a
cherry and a doggie purse.
Since depictions of Muhammad
aren't allowed under some (but not all) interpretations of
Islam, no one knows what he looks like. And, bummer alert, anyone
who tries to capture his likeness is subject to punishment by death.
The text on Norris's cartoon, a poster calling for a national "Everybody
Draw Mohammed Day" on May 20, reads: "Will the REAL
likeness of the prophet Mohammed please stand
up?!"...
Norris was trying to express
solidarity with Trey Parker and Matt Stone,
the "South Park" creators threatened by a radical
Muslim group (or 12 guys and a Web site) offended by a recent
episode not
depicting Muhammad. Actually, the cartoon Muhammad was wearing a
bear costume. One Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee (a.k.a.
Zachary Chesser of Virginia) posted a warning on
the Revolution Muslim Web site suggesting that
Parker and Stone might wind up the way murdered filmmaker
Theo van Gogh did. Van Gogh's offense was
making a film about Islam's abuse of women. In response to the
threat, the bosses at Comedy Central knelt before
the altar of -- no joke -- political correctness
and censored a subsequent episode, bleeping all mentions of
Muhammad, as well as a short segment about fear and
censorship.
The truth is that Americans love their free speech and have had
enough of those who think they can dictate the limits of that
fundamental right. Americans also love humor and the irreverence
that underpins the joke.
Norris's cartoon was a fine idea, but she should be
relieved of further duty or responsibility. As for the rest of you
characters: Draw to any heart's discontent. It's a free country. For
now.
Two
former Brooklyn residents have been charged with
conspiring to provide
Al Qaeda with
computer advice and other assistance,
according to an indictment unsealed Friday in
Federal District Court in Manhattan. Prosecutors identified the men
as Wesam El-Hanafi, 33, an American citizen, and
Sabirhan Hasanoff, 34, a dual citizen of the United
States and Australia. The indictment also cited an unidentified
co-conspirator, listed only as CC-1. In late 2007, CC-1
paid $50,000 to Mr. Hasanoff, and later had a discussion with both men “about
joining Al Qaeda,” the indictment said. Mr. El-Hanafi also directed CC-1
to perform tasks for the terrorist group, it added. In April 2009, Mr.
El-Hanafi bought seven
Casio
digital watches over the Internet, and had them shipped to his home in
Brooklyn, the indictment says. The indictment did not elaborate, but in
past cases, such watches have been used in connection with
improvised explosive devices. (NYT, 05/01/10).
Al Qaeda Ordered N.Y.
Subway Plot.
The failed plot to bomb three New York City subway
lines during the morning rush last September was hatched in 2008 by two
senior Qaeda leaders in the tribal areas of Pakistan, where they met
personally with three would-be suicide attackers from Queens to urge
them to carry out a strike, federal authorities said Friday.
Zarein Ahmedzay, 25, an Afghan immigrant, pleaded
guilty to the bomb plot and other crimes. Mr.
Najibullah Zazi,
who moved to Denver from Queens early last year and worked as an airport
shuttle bus driver, had pleaded guilty to the same crimes.
During his guilty plea, Mr. Ahmedzay,
a short, bearded man, quoted from the Koran before describing his role
in the bomb plot. Then, appearing at ease, he suggested that a
Zionist conspiracy represents a greater threat to the United
States than
Al Qaeda.
“And I believe
that the real
enemies of this
country are
the ones
destroying
this country
from within,” he
said. “And I believe
these are
the special
group, the
Zionist Jews,
I believe, who
want a permanent
shadow government
within the
government of
the United States of America.”
The plea by Mr. Ahmedzay leaves
Adis Medunjanin, 25, as the only remaining defendant in
the case facing trial. (NYT, April 23, 2010).

Franklin Graham's
invitation to speak at a Pentagon prayer service
has been rescinded because his comments about Islam were inappropriate,
the
Army said
Thursday. Graham, the son of famed evangelist
Billy Graham, in 2001 described Islam as evil. More
recently, he has said he finds Islam offensive and wants Muslims to know
that Jesus Christ died for their sins. Army spokesman Col. Tom
Collins said Graham's remarks were ''not appropriate.'' (NYT,

a hijab-clad American Muslim, has made history
being the first Muslim woman appointed to a position in President
Barack Obama's administration. She sets on a newly-formed
interfaith advisory board the administration hopes will improve
relations with Muslims in the US and across the globe. She claims: "Islamphobia
in America is very real. Gallup finds that Muslims are among the
most unfavorably viewed groups in the US and only a little over a
third of Americans say they have no prejudice against Muslims. This
presents a grave danger to America as a whole. The disease of racism,
by definition, is a bias in judgment. This means that racism clouds
sound judgment and leads people to make irrational decisions."

Westergaard meinte dazu:
"Die Fanatiker haben gewonnen, wenn wir zurückweichen. Traurig ist
das." In Belgrad zog der Beobook-Verlag die schon
veröffentlichte serbische Übersetzung als weltweit erste
Auslandsausgabe des Buches zurück. Er entschuldigte sich nach
Protesten islamischer Organisationen für die "Provokation".

engage Ms. Paulin-Ramirez, 31, in
conversation about the faith but said she wouldn't talk to him. Ms. Paulin-Ramirez

Ms. Paulin-Ramirez

reports: AUGUST 3, 2007 (Los Angeles, CA) — Jeffrey A. Stern,
President and Publisher of Los Angeles-based
Bonus Books, Inc., is speaking out about this week’s decision by
Cambridge University Press to destroy all unsold copies of their
2006 book,
“Alms for Jihad,” by American authors Robert Collins and
J. Millard Burr, in response to a libel action brought against
them in British courts by Saudi billionaire Khalid Salim A. Bin
Mahfouz. In just one of
a series of heavy-handed libel suits against American and
British journalists and publishers filed in British courts in recent
years, Mahfouz claimed that “Alms for Jihad” wrongly implicates him
as having had a significant role in aiding terrorism.
In a similar attempt to halt the distribution of such claims,
libel tourist Bin Mahfouz also filed a libel action in British
courts against
Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, after Bonus Books published her 2003
book
“FUNDING EVIL: How Terrorism is Financed and How to Stop It.”
Ehrenfeld, director of the American Center for Democracy, also
alleged Bin Mahfouz of backing organizations with alleged ties
to terrorism, a charge that Mahfouz, formerly president of the
National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, continues to deny. But
Ehrenfeld stands behind her research, and publisher Stern stands
by his author.

2001. Eine nie zuvor ausgestrahlte Passage ist das
Märtyrer-Abschiedsvideo von Ahmad al-Ghamidi, einem
der 19 Attentäter des 11. September. Schon an früheren Jahrestagen
Abu
Yahya al-Libi, ein wichtiger Ideologe, lobt die
Mudschahidin in Somalia.
(spiegel, 19.9.08).
