Vilks Mohammed Karikaturen

Proteste gegen neue Mohammed-Karikaturen. In Pakistan wurden am Freitag symbolisch Kreuze und schwedische Fahnen sowie eine Marionette verbrannt, die den schwedischen Ministerpräsidenten darstellen sollte. Afghanische Religionsgelehrte und das Religionsministerium in Kabul erklärten am Samstag in einer gemeinsamen Stellungnahme, die Zeichnung sei eine Provokation, gotteslästerlich und feindlich gegenüber der muslimischen Welt. The purported head of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, has offered $100,000 (£49,310) to anyone who kills Mr Vilks. The $100,000 (£49,310) reward would be raised by 50% if Mr Vilks was "slaughtered like a lamb", he said (BBC, 17.9.07). He also announced a $50,000 reward for the killing of the editor of the newspaper. And he said the Swedish government ought to apologise - otherwise al-Qaeda in Iraq would target "their economy and giant companies such as Ericsson, Volvo, Ikea, Scania". (BBC, 15.9.07). The Swedish Prime Minister, Mr Reinfeldt, said he told the ambassadors that under the Swedish constitution, politicians were not allowed to "interfere with how the media [works] and what it chooses to publish". ''The Muhammad cartoon project must be made into an art work,'' said Vilks, breaking away for an interview during a business seminar in Klippan, a small town in southern Sweden.
